As Braedan gets older, he gets wiser. I'm glad for this... but... sometimes... it's just happening too quickly.
This morning, his dad made him a wonderful breakfast burrito. He usually, these days, can put down about 3 different breakfast items before he's full. So, his dad also said that once he's done with the burrito, he can have a bowl of froot loops. (Get him to eat the good stuff first.) Well, this usually works to our advantage, because he will eat the "good stuff" and then eat what HE thinks is the good stuff... and both parties are happy.
Well, as I was letting Trigger out of his crate to do his morning business, I walk up the stairs to find Braedan out of his chair... and his plate empty. He didn't really look guilty this time. (usually he still has a guilty face when he does something he knows is wrong) Instead, he looked right at me and said, "Carissa, I finished ALL my burrito (holding up his VERY CLEAN plate) and now I'd like my Froot Loops please."
When it comes to some adult things, yes, maybe I was born yesterday. But, HELLO...
(I couldn't believe that this might be happening to me... Braedan is throwing food away.)
I walked over, opened the trash... and didn't see anything. But, I looked at Braedan and said, "So, did you throw your burrito away so you could have your froot loops?" He was actually going to lie and say NO. Before he did, I reminded him that the lying consequences are MUCH worse than just telling the truth.
He said, "Yes, I threw it away." Then he pulled the... "well, I don't want Froot Loops anyway." All I said was, "NEVER do that again and I'm glad you don't want any... because little dude, you are LOOP-LESS in GEORGIA this morning!"
Hmmm... we might have to change our "treat" strategy...
